Erato Alakiozidou is a Greek pianist whose artistic practice extends beyond performance, bringing together artistic research, education and cultural leadership.

For more than thirty-five years she has developed projects that connect music with memory, place and cultural dialogue through concerts, festivals, recordings and international collaborations.

Today, her work unfolds between performance, artistic creation and higher music education, creating artistic environments where musicians, audiences and communities meet.

PERFORMANCE & CONTEMPORARY MUSIC

Erato Alakiozidou has established an international career as a soloist and chamber musician, performing in nineteen countries across Europe and appearing at prestigious concert halls, universities and international festivals.

Alongside the classical piano repertoire, contemporary music has remained one of the defining elements of her artistic identity. Throughout her career she has collaborated with more than sixty Greek composers, presenting numerous first performances, commissioning new works and promoting Greek contemporary music internationally.

Her collaborations include leading orchestras, chamber ensembles and internationally acclaimed artists, while her concert programmes frequently combine established repertoire with twentieth- and twenty-first-century music, creating meaningful dialogue between musical traditions.

Her discography reflects this artistic vision, documenting projects dedicated to Astor Piazzolla, Nikos Astrinidis and contemporary composers from Greece and across Europe. Her discography, released by Protasis Productions, Subways Music, Ankh Productions, Odradek Records and Da Vinci Classics, documents her long-standing commitment to Greek and European contemporary repertoire.

​​ARTISTIC LEADERSHIP & EDUCATION

​Parallel to her performing career, Erato Alakiozidou has devoted a significant part of her artistic activity to artistic leadership, education and cultural development.She is the Founder and Artistic Director of the Music Diaries International Workshop Festival, an international platform combining concerts, masterclasses, artistic research and interdisciplinary collaboration.
She is also General Manager of beArtive, a non-profit cultural organisation developing artistic productions, educational initiatives and international cultural projects.
Since 2020, she has served as Artistic Director of the Municipal Conservatory of Pylaia–Chortiatis, leading the institution through new educational programmes, international partnerships and innovative concert series.
Education has always remained central to her work. Since 2000, she has been a permanent faculty member of the Thessaloniki State Conservatory, where she serves as Head of the Piano Accompaniment Department, International Relations Coordinator,  and teaches Piano and Chamber Music.
She also collaborates with the Athens Conservatoire, while regularly presenting masterclasses, lectures and serving as jury member at international competitions throughout Europe.

​RESEARCH, RECORDINGS & CURRENT ACTIVITY

In recent years, artistic research has become an essential dimension of her work.She is currently a PhD Candidate in the Doctoral Program in Artistic Creation at the University of Aveiro (Portugal), where her research explores artistic creation as a collaborative process capable of reconstructing shared identities through artistic creation.

Alongside her artistic research, she continues to develop recordings, educational initiatives and international collaborations that connect artistic practice with research, cultural diplomacy and creative innovation.

Today, her work unfolds between concert performance, artistic research, higher music education and cultural leadership, creating projects that connect artists, audiences and communities across Europe.

She began her piano studies at the State Conservatory of Thessaloniki under Eleni Papazoglou, graduating with First Prize by unanimous decision. She later continued her artistic development in Paris, earning both the Diplôme Supérieur d’Exécution and the Premier Prix from the Conservatoire de Villepinte. Her musical formation was further enriched through advanced studies and masterclasses with distinguished musicians including Nikos Astrinidis, Julia and Constantin Ganevi, Roberto Szidon, Lazar Berman, Alfredo Speranza, Carla Giudici and other internationally renowned pianists and pedagogues.
Her repertoire spans from the Baroque to contemporary music, with a particular affinity for the twentieth and twenty-first centuries. A defining aspect of her artistic career has been her commitment to contemporary repertoire through close collaboration with more than sixty Greek composers, numerous world and national premieres, and the promotion of new music in Greece and abroad. Her programmes combine established masterworks with contemporary compositions, fostering a dialogue between musical heritage and today's creative voices.Her contemporary repertoire includes works by Alfred Schnittke, Giya Kancheli, Fazıl Say, Theodore Antoniou, Giorgos Couroupos and many other distinguished composers.

She has appeared as a soloist with the Nae Leonard Symphony Orchestra of Galați, the Thessaloniki State Symphony Orchestra and the Orchestra of Colours, collaborating with conductors including Liviu Buiuc, Miltos Logiadis, Dimitris Botinis, Theodore Antoniou, Alexandros Myrat and Dimitris Dimopoulos.
An active chamber musician, she has performed extensively throughout Europe in duo, trio and larger chamber formations, with recent engagements in Italy, Portugal, Romania, Türkiye, Poland, Serbia and Germany. Her artistic collaborations include internationally acclaimed ensembles such as the Lutosławski Quartet, ensemble idée fixe and distinguished soloists and chamber musicians from across Europe, with appearances at major festivals, conservatories and universities.
Her contribution to contemporary music has been recognised by the Greek Association of Theatre and Music Critics, while her recordings and artistic projects have received numerous distinctions and international acclaim. Her recording Light Over Darkness was selected as Editor's Choice by Gramophone.​Beyond her performing career, Erato Alakiozidou is widely engaged in artistic leadership, higher music education and international cultural collaboration. 

Since 2025, she has served as Artistic Director of the Scientific Committee of the Istituto Ellenico di Cultura in Milan, fostering artistic initiatives and cultural partnerships between Greece and Italy.
She is the Founder and Artistic Director of the Music Diaries International Workshop Festival, General Manager of beArtive and Artistic Director of the Municipal Conservatory of Pylaia–Chortiatis, where she has developed innovative educational programmes, international partnerships and interdisciplinary artistic projects.
A permanent faculty member of the Thessaloniki State Conservatory since 2000, she serves as Head of the Piano Accompaniment Department and International Relations Coordinator, while teaching Piano and Chamber Music. She also collaborates with the Athens Conservatoire and is regularly invited to present masterclasses, lecture-recitals and serve on the juries of international piano competitions across Europe.
Today, her artistic activity brings together performance, artistic research, higher music education and cultural leadership, creating international projects that connect artistic practice with dialogue, collaboration and cultural exchange across Europe.
