The ensemble’s main artistic goal is the dissemination of contemporary music creation. It focuses on music written in the 20th & 21st century, seeking answers to questions concerning the names and the identity of this repertoire, the subtle silences, the unexpected influences, the deviations, the deletions and the ramifications of material which is still open and evolving.

Based in Thessaloniki(Greece) on a core formation of soloists specialized in new music,shaping a flexible musical ensemble of any needed size.From promoting works by Greek composers to blending the arts (music and dance, music and literature),the musicians of the ensemble attempt to rediscover the sound as body, thought and feeling, imagination and memory.

The ensemble performs at prestigious concert and art venues, as well as in major International festivals in Greece and abroad, forging relationships with important artists and cultural institutions in order to secure the preconditions for effective actions, collaborations and discoveries through music creatiation.

The ensemble has allready many international  appereances such us  in Guarnerius Art Center(Serbia 2012), Goldsmiths Univeristy-Russian Center of Music in London & Huddersfield University (U.K-December 2012)Concerti del Chiostro-(Italy 2012),Klasik Keyifler Festival & Instanbul University(Turkey2012) Musica Polonica Nova Festival(Poland 2012),Synthermia International Music Festival & Competition of Composition(Greece –05,-07,-09,-12),State Museum of Contemporary Art(Greece 2011),KOTH underground festival (Greece 2011,2012),GreekComposers Union concert series/Athens(Greece 2010),Yannis Papaioannou International Music Festival(Greece 2010)etc

Since 2004 is “ensemble in Residence” in the Municipal Conservatory of Thermi in Greece, and in 2014 was "ensemble in Residence" in Megaron Concert Hall (Thessaloniki).Many distinguished contemporary composers have dedicated some of their works to the ensemble and they performed their world premieres.

The ensemble has performed under conduction of Vladimiros Simeonidis, Miltos Logiadis,Dimitris Dimopoulos,Alexander Myrat and Theodore Antoniou.




Tangos a Cuatro (2000-2010)

Tangos a Cuatro quartet was founded in 1999 by Erato Alakiozidou and is headquartered in Thessaloniki. Since its foundation, the quartet has developed an intense concert activity receiving excellent reviews. It has performed in many cities in Greece, in big theatres and concert sites (Royal Theatre of Thessaloniki, National Theatre of Thessaloniki, Thessaloniki Concert Hall, University of Macedonia, Benaki Museum, Archaelogical Museum of Thessaloniki, etc.), as well as in big festivals (Sani Festival, Dimitria, Symi Festival, 1st Theatre Festival, 1st Balkan festival, “Para thin alos” Festival, etc.). After 10 years since its foundation the quartet started performing abroad beginning from neighbor Serbia. Simultaneously, the quartet members, independently and in collaboration with the Greek Composers’ Union, are engaged in interpreting works by Greek composers. Their contribution in the prominence of contemporary greek creations has comprised an occasion for a new thematic entity, which takes into account the presentation of works by Greek composers, composed specifically for the quartet and inspired by the rhythmic and melodic tango style. Greek composers who have collaborated with the quartet are Giorgos Koumentakis, Nikos Kipourgos, Dimitris Themelis, Tassos Rossopoulos, Vassilis Kitsos, Kostas Tsougras, Panagiotis Apostolidis, Evangelia Kateli, Lina Tonia, Giorgos Kiriakakis, Nektarios Karantzis, Anastasia Bokoglidou, Vassiliki Filippaiou, Iosif Papadatos, Anastasis Vasiliadis, etc.

Tangos a Cuatro have collaborated with the Orchestra of Colors interpreting works of A. Piazzola for four soloists and orchestra (avant premiere) arranged by Konstantinos Raptis under conduction of Miltos Logiadis. Other artists who have collaborated with the quartet are Filimon Kaloterakis (cello), Dimitris Polizoidis (cello), Nektaria Liaskou (accordion), Dimitris Vittis (marimba & percussion) and Georgia Sylleou (voice).
